We love the expert use of vertical wooden boards in this unapologetically modern penthouse. At once a practical innovation and an aesthetic wonder, the “wooden skin” that envelops the entry of this two-story apartment in central Beirut provides a sense of warmth to the space and a stage for the floating staircase that hangs suspended from the ceiling.
Not simply a sculptural element, the skin also conceals a series of rooms and closets; detectable only by custom lighting and steel handles that curve out to greet you.
